Baby Countdown Craft for the waiting siblings... a paper chain

We are anxiously awaiting baby number four... nearing the due date deadline... it was time to countdown with a paper chain.  I have seen the idea for Disney vacation countdowns... reminds me of an advent calendar counting down the days until Christmas, especially with the holidays coming to a close... it will be exciting to see the chain get smaller.  I did find a cute pin on pinterest, so the idea is not completely original, but fun just the same.  Are you counting down to something special? a vacation? moving homes? starting a new endeavor?
We cut 8 big fat paper links to represent weekly markers... and 6 little links to represent the days in between.

Everyone helped put the chain together.

Here is the countdown to their new baby brother!
Our boys have it hanging in their room.  They can take turns until the little man is here!

Fun Party Craft that doesn't Break the Bank!

I love having a craft for the kids to create something fun to take home from a party.  With my thrifty shopping... I try to keep the expense down.  For this March birthday, I used Christmas wood cutouts of stars at 90% off for the base of MoNsTerS!
I covered the table with black table cloths (fabric from the thrift shop).

We upcycled a puzzle that was missing a few pieces (silly dogs) and spray painted them various colors.
Gotta have googly eyes, pom poms and pipe cleaners!

They turned out just perfectly scary!

Perfect for a Rainy day... Rainbow Sugar Cookie Dough

We love baking!  It brings us together, we get to be creative, it's fun and yummy.
When the weather makes you feel like you are on lockdown indoors... this is fun to do with the kids after they have eaten a healthy lunch! I make sugar cookie dough.  The best recipe can be found here.   The dough is easy to work with, it doesn't have to be chilled and the cutouts are always perfect.  I never have to add more flour.  We also enjoy Wilton icing colors in concentrated paste.  I have a rainbow of colors, but food coloring can work just as well!

We divide the dough up and color it.  The kids have fun tasting and building their cookies.
Our sweetness gets in on the action!

Matthew loves to mix the colors.

Joe loves eating his creations. Each one has a story. Take the time to listen and enjoy your children.  The house cleaning can wait, and they will be this young for a short time.  Make sugar cookie dough, color it and get in on the fun!

This never gets old for us and it is really fun to see what the kiddos come up with.  I purchased some little cutters that can be used with fondant and we made owls and other little animals. Did I tell you that my little Joe is an amazing artist?!
